Management V: Financial Management (Bachelor)
This class aims at providing students with tools which are indispensable for examining a company and its stakeholders from a financial perspective. We derive rules of conduct for management and stakeholders. Further on, an introduction into the modeling of risk and the valuation of risky securities will also be part of the syllabus.
The course will be based on Brealey/Myers: Principles of Corporate Finance, McGraw-Hill (the chapter enumeration below refers to the 7th edition of this book, which is also available as a PDF file). In addition to the indicated chapters of this book, its other chapters as well as other textbooks on corporate finance or financial management may prove helpful. Further literature hints will be given during the term.
Usually, the lectures (held by Prof. Kirstein, email) take place tuesdays 13:30-15:00 in G22A-013, and the tutorials (held by Eva Schliephake, email) thursdays 13:30-15:00 in G22A-013. Occasionally we may deviate from this schedule, so have a look at this page from time to time.
Lecture slides and tutorial problems will be made available here. The following Syllabus is only a plan from which we will certainly take the liberty to deviate occasionally (indicated in red).
The lecture starts on Oct. 13, and the tutorial on Oct. 27.
