Many organizations offer scholarships for undergraduate students or PhD candidates, both from Germany and abroad. The Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung (FNSt) is the foundation which aims at supporting students who satisfy three criteria:
- high academic potential (in particular with regard to the field of study or research)
- personality (reliability, motivation, determination, responsibility, leadership)
- high degree of commitment to liberal politics or society.
As a Naumann fellow, you are obliged to take part in the seminars and other activities of the FNSt. German students may apply as early as the second term, while students from abroad need to have passed an intermediate exam before submitting their application. Besides other requirements, you need two letters of recommendation from university professors. In any case, you should carefully consult the following two links (the target documents are in German, as fluency in that language is among the prerequisites for a scholarship). Mind the deadlines for applications: May 31 and November 30, respectively. You may also want to read the information on letters of recommendation. |
